Here is a close up of the necklace that came. I liked the color, length, and style. I just didn't like the price tag. Not to mention I already own 3 that look almost exactly like this one.....</div>

I am not a big animal print fan as a general rule, but I did kind of like this one. Too bad the zipper is not up all the way in the back. Not the best way to feel about a skirt. And the material for the top was super soft, I liked the loose sleeves, the length and that they sent me an actual outfit. The problem with the shirt was that about mid torso it had an elastic that made it feel like I was wearing a tight belt around my torso. Try as I might I just couldn't get it to sit comfortably.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Colibri Plaid Shirt $48<br />
Emer High Waist Trouser $98</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This outfit I loved. This picture doesn't do it justice, but in all fairness my photographer was a kid with a cell phone so....I am not normally a legging kind of gal, but these were super soft and looked great. The shirt was soft, and was a little longer in the back to cover just a bit more. LOVED this outfit. That being said, $48 for a plaid shirt and $98 for leggings was just too much for my piggy bank. (Sniffle)<br />
<br />
End result....this time they all went back. I was sad to see that second outfit go, but it had to be done. Hopefully next time will be more affordable.<br />

In all fairness, I have a ton of half written posts in draft. Maybe I can actually get this one done and posted in a single day......ahh, dreams.<br />
<br />
If we are Facebook friends, you probably know that last June my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then, in December her mom was also diagnosed. THANKFULLY they are both now done with treatments and are cancer free.<br />
<br />
Not being there while my mom was having treatments was a very hard thing. I am sure she was ok, since she is one of the toughest people I know but it was still hard being far away. I wanted to do something for her, but I wasn't sure what would be most helpful. Finally I decided on this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UAQyTzEMVzzgX5vd0mxGuvt5tf-GwKL254tkeaCe1DylbsnrckqyWLQ3zTuWOdwe04T3NOUbwaHx6otJ5u-665NIfAGkk76SwrhZGN2rrczvTix4o81VZaTTMqnBhO1MFrHsbBp42fw/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UAQyTzEMVzzgX5vd0mxGuvt5tf-GwKL254tkeaCe1DylbsnrckqyWLQ3zTuWOdwe04T3NOUbwaHx6otJ5u-665NIfAGkk76SwrhZGN2rrczvTix4o81VZaTTMqnBhO1MFrHsbBp42fw/s400/photo+1.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't remember where I got this little plastic box, but I think it might have once been full of rubber bands from Staples. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGZywad-Lawf1suy-AsgJfwmj3P9JcFJ8yWXB5oWoVt_QmoZhfOk9GRtOBb-tyK7QB1qPhxuLOQsVwBGXVgTZbLfrT_BZhc-HmvQx_IadB6dxKLXn0J497UZ_9Y_4gE7ZsNNVMeunUYcA/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGZywad-Lawf1suy-AsgJfwmj3P9JcFJ8yWXB5oWoVt_QmoZhfOk9GRtOBb-tyK7QB1qPhxuLOQsVwBGXVgTZbLfrT_BZhc-HmvQx_IadB6dxKLXn0J497UZ_9Y_4gE7ZsNNVMeunUYcA/s400/photo+2.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I lined the inside with the pretty green paper in order to be able to make the words on the cover. I wanted them protected inside the box when it was closed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSyiCMCwIHmZvu5fwMn_wky7ZDr9MpdcQcSA8ieA-LDyCW7Zh5_KrbDW0MrASVcnDxuJEStCIwcFR80KhgHWlsa84f4VzZOXd5mDSwOzfVASNflCzQR8iziLy1WNAvN9xqeSIlmdsGApI/s1600/y.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSyiCMCwIHmZvu5fwMn_wky7ZDr9MpdcQcSA8ieA-LDyCW7Zh5_KrbDW0MrASVcnDxuJEStCIwcFR80KhgHWlsa84f4VzZOXd5mDSwOzfVASNflCzQR8iziLy1WNAvN9xqeSIlmdsGApI/s320/y.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted the insert to be able to stand up all on it's own, so that she could set it next to her chair during chemo, on her desk at work, where ever. The plastic box made it possible for her to fold it and take it in her tote bag or purse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yes, she is really that short.</td></tr>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Two of my favorite photo panels were my wedding day and our photo from our 60 mile Komen </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3-Day event a few years ago. We did that event because this was actually Gram's second go-round with breast cancer. There were photos on both sides of the accordion and I made sure I got all her kids & grand-kids on there, as well as both of her parents. </div>

Well, since we have had a rough year (worst ever) we decided to do something a little different in the present department this year. We are doing countdown to Birthday presents. One gift, some small & some not, each day until THE day. Here is what she saw on November 1st.<br><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Instead we have spent the past few years going out to nice dinners and shows or activities. This year is different. This year kiddo will be a (GASP!!!!!!) teenager. Yup, lucky number 13 has arrived my friends. And in honor of this (still gasping!) milestone year, we agreed to a party. Heck, we even said she could invite as many people as she wanted. She came up with a whopping 8. (whew!!)<br />
<br />
Step one to any good party - the invitation. Our theme is the Mad Hatter's tea party - but more Johnny Depp and less Disney. I wanted to come up with a fabulous invite, and I think I did pretty well.....<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Jewelry Boxes were the perfect size. </td></tr>

After cutting the burlap in to strips that were small enough to fit in the boxes, I wrote out the invite information on the paper backing. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I tried to keep the language in theme. </td></tr>

Rolling up the burlap was pretty easy and it gave me enough space to write all the information and still fit in the box. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The "high tech" tool (rubber band) kept it rolled while I tied my fabulous little twine around it to keep it from unraveling in the box. Now it's time for assembly. Remember those cute little trinkets from the first photo? Well.......</div>

This key was one of the bigger ones. I like the smaller ones better, but all in all I think these were some great little invites. She was most pleased that they didn't look like the whimsy ones that she saw on the net while browsing. She wanted something more Victorian. I also think these would be great, maybe without the key, for a Monsters Inc party. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

FAIL. It has gone off the rails, as life has just been crazy. In fact, hubby and I now literally refer to this as the worst year of our lives. Anyone who is privy to all we have been through this year agrees.<br />
<br />
Regardless, we are still here plugging along one day at a time.<br />
<br />
So, this month I got at least a little back on track and set up my pretty shelf.<br />
<br />

The only new item I purchased this year was the pumpkin. The wood was left over from a decorating project at work, so I covered it in chalkboard paint (LOVE!) and decided this was the perfect thing to use it for. The orange tea light with the dancing skeleton design we have had forever and is one of my favorites. We use battery operated candles for safety.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-59415758914433110932014-10-22T13:12:00.001-07:002014-10-22T13:12:41.631-07:00Box Card ProjectAs I mentioned in a previous post, I was touring through blog-land the other day and discovered so many fabulous crafty people. I stumbled upon <a href="http://cardztv.blogspot.com/2014/10/cardz-tv-3-d-challenge-2-fun-folds.html" target="_blank">Cardz TV</a> and their challenge to create a Halloween card that was not a traditional fold. One of the options they gave was a box card. Never in all my crafty years had I attempted one. Not sure why. Just hadn't. So, I gave it a shot.....<br />

I wanted to stay with all one piece so it is a simple 12x12 cardstock with the corners cut away and scored to fold. I used some scrap pieces to mat the outside. I discovered some very crafty ladies. Among them was a challenge to create a card using Purple, Orange, Lime, Black, and any sort of Die-Cut. I do love my Cricut machine....I know a lot of my crafty friends have moved on. I just can't let go. Anyway, I cut out a few different things, played with some ideas, used only scrap paper in the assigned colors and here we are.......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_crc5Y-pmRsGB7C70x6tSH4qQcRGS1W7ePWVtFaQzmldxwfZB6JibdZ3yZ0EE71NTEcFJ37G6i8EfcuboVkre87z1CQ5z0oBz1CnsxIjd7FPb88tBpqPIMycAF8lPERN6Eoxlb0qoTMY/s1600/IMG_4609.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_crc5Y-pmRsGB7C70x6tSH4qQcRGS1W7ePWVtFaQzmldxwfZB6JibdZ3yZ0EE71NTEcFJ37G6i8EfcuboVkre87z1CQ5z0oBz1CnsxIjd7FPb88tBpqPIMycAF8lPERN6Eoxlb0qoTMY/s1600/IMG_4609.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
The words are a layered Die-Cut from my Cricut machine, and the squares were also cut with the machine, but happened to be left over from a previous project. Although it look more yellow in the photo, the paper behind the yarn is actually lime. Now I just need someone to mail this to......<br />
<br />
Any takers?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-57217742089011084122014-10-16T15:52:00.000-07:002014-10-16T15:52:56.670-07:00Fun with LettersAlthough I am not quite up to an entire 31 day challenge, <a href="http://www.sowderingabout.com/" target="_blank">Randi</a> has certainly inspired me to get some of my wood project done.<br />

The base coat of black is actually chalkboard paint (my new obsession) so I can draw on the "G". I put a nail above my door bell, and right now it says "Trick or Treat" and is hung up with a Happy Halloween ribbon that I just wrapped around the top and tied in an bow. I am super happy with how it turned out, and it really only took me a few minutes outside of drying time.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-81059038394010216682014-10-16T15:32:00.000-07:002014-10-16T15:32:13.646-07:00Wedding Day KitRecently I attended a destination wedding in fabulous San Diego. I don't know about you, but I hate traveling and realizing I forgot something. Especially for events. And because I didn't want my friend's special day to have any hiccups, I came up with my own version of a Bridal Emergency Kit.<br />

This is the bag I decided on. It is pretty heavy duty, and as you can see I had her name put on it. I ordered it well in advance from my fabulous friend <a href="https://www.mythirtyone.com/Simplifyinglaura/" target="_blank">Laura</a>. And as anyone who knows me can attest, the next thing I did was scour Pinterest for ideas of what to put in this kit. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I added some little notes, and grouped things in plastic sandwich baggies. I felt it important to mention I hadn't tried the powder trick, just to make sure I wasn't giving her advice that could potentially ruin her dress! (Gasp!) I also added a granola bar and some small bottles of liquid courage for good measure. </div>

Have you ever made a kit? If so, what did you put in yours?</div>

Yes, I am old school like that and still have wooden block rubber stamps.<br />

I could never decide or find the right bin or box to keep them in - until now!! I honestly can't remember where I saw this idea (<a href="http://organizingmadefun.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Becky</a> perhaps?) or in what application it was used but this little thing is my new BFF!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">From Home Depot</td></tr>

I put some thought in to the fact that I didn't want a repeat of a previous problem - that if I can't see them I don't know what I have. So first I grouped similar stamps together to see what I was working with. Then I started dividing them in to drawers to make sure I maximized space and made sure the bigger stamps had a home. Then I did something that took forever.....ok, like 3 days but still....<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeVmYmgHGUFKs-mcxW2FKwSKMNQjXzfdq24UCEsKEnM8P4Xn0JTCSc-1twzgri5Q5MIcYgVlZbq7mYTIbdUEoaHEBfzm1h2okPpyqz293nAecQj6G6eYuA1PCWDNv5Lrx7GzaF70R8ifc/s1600/photo+3+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeVmYmgHGUFKs-mcxW2FKwSKMNQjXzfdq24UCEsKEnM8P4Xn0JTCSc-1twzgri5Q5MIcYgVlZbq7mYTIbdUEoaHEBfzm1h2okPpyqz293nAecQj6G6eYuA1PCWDNv5Lrx7GzaF70R8ifc/s1600/photo+3+(4).JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Prints</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I once bought out an entire Michael's bin of these chipboard albums. At ten cents each you would have done it too and you know it, so don't judge. Because I have so many of them, they were perfect. So I stamped. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH2cWtn6BEESiVik8agHHikEGxyjtDTs7sm-buhKMZP8_7AXwLRRV6j62rzOtJNI_VgKZL1RgeOStjilYD2tcKD1lJD63GqmdtUulCMN6EamCAdDIPvshnPlDd15MNHryAIJGQnJ95rrE/s1600/photo+2+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH2cWtn6BEESiVik8agHHikEGxyjtDTs7sm-buhKMZP8_7AXwLRRV6j62rzOtJNI_VgKZL1RgeOStjilYD2tcKD1lJD63GqmdtUulCMN6EamCAdDIPvshnPlDd15MNHryAIJGQnJ95rrE/s1600/photo+2+(2).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And I stamped.......</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It took me several of these little albums to stamp them all but I finally got there. The images on a single page correspond to a single drawer in the little "dresser". And the cute tape? Identifies which drawer to go to!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRdSKLRsJ2OfysW04P1Dm6JaMxMFe0IJ3w4VtEJ4KeOrx8WQPOKwulzJyxlInr1AMN3PwHF3c1flNi_wCTddrLlFQ7dodovJNXePHldFazwBWRY5iD4017Q5naGhM47glBSPJsz7d2WOc/s1600/photo+4+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRdSKLRsJ2OfysW04P1Dm6JaMxMFe0IJ3w4VtEJ4KeOrx8WQPOKwulzJyxlInr1AMN3PwHF3c1flNi_wCTddrLlFQ7dodovJNXePHldFazwBWRY5iD4017Q5naGhM47glBSPJsz7d2WOc/s1600/photo+4+(2).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Almost there..</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So now I have these handy little flip books of images to peruse when I am looking for a stamp. And since they are grouped, deciding which "Happy Birthday" one to use is a snap! Then to make sure that the books were kept within quick reach I grabbed some Command Hooks. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5sOD7EsZmRK7GyVYlqc_Dlb3PJ6HOnLtEAyut5r5zAIxNmNbUHbSxLSRuUFP2CJPWCuP975LJxDK90M6oep4nFbDOTqTMOPAotqg7wl9CCQ9ovHud7nvF3VAJodL_W_0x4VnFshszH_c/s1600/photo+5+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5sOD7EsZmRK7GyVYlqc_Dlb3PJ6HOnLtEAyut5r5zAIxNmNbUHbSxLSRuUFP2CJPWCuP975LJxDK90M6oep4nFbDOTqTMOPAotqg7wl9CCQ9ovHud7nvF3VAJodL_W_0x4VnFshszH_c/s1600/photo+5+(3).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />Ummm.....yes that would be the dresser full and my clear stamps waiting their turn to make reference books. You know what that means! Back to Home Depot (thanks <a href="http://adamskitchenadventures.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Adam</a>!) <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVv_r11kCTRFk9iPEqLm3E7USz3WyMzG8sghkmEIh1qHjJ9yKy3ADs2Prw0Aeu7DfDD_yETwJMuPpzC0Vf16Kmyl4oxaDPBIwHuRUYUdroLDJxOdKFUqo7cFcZikSt15RZVhJR5sE3BwQ/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVv_r11kCTRFk9iPEqLm3E7USz3WyMzG8sghkmEIh1qHjJ9yKy3ADs2Prw0Aeu7DfDD_yETwJMuPpzC0Vf16Kmyl4oxaDPBIwHuRUYUdroLDJxOdKFUqo7cFcZikSt15RZVhJR5sE3BwQ/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Fabulous!! I even had some of the smaller drawers still empty at the top so I added a few stickers to the front. <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

The stickers help me remember which type of fun tidbit I have tucked in there. <tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">All Hung</td></tr>

Now I can find my stamps and inks quick! I love this new wall system! The rest of my craft room is under reorganization too, so who knows what else I might come up with! How do you organize your crafty corner?<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Subtle, right? It worked. She got what she wanted, although it was a couple of weeks late because on the first try, my daughter was unhappy with the results. (Not too unhappy since she kept it for herself) So, handy (ha ha!) tote bags it was.<br />

Part one of this process was that <a href="http://adamskitchenadventures.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Adam</a> and I had to stamp our hands on the totes. When I mailed them I was a little nervous about the paint sticking to itself in the envelope (it's over 100 degrees here) so I made sure to fold them design out and they made it to their respective locations just fine.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-79346784897162363432014-05-07T17:42:00.000-07:002014-05-07T17:42:46.409-07:004 in 14 May As the month was turning yet again, I was trying to think of a cute theme for my May "pretty shelf". May brings to mind Mother's Day, but somehow decorating a shelf saying I was great seemed a little too far. (Although perhaps the kiddo gets a guest starring role next year!) So, I went a little on the lame side with the whole "April Showers, May Flowers" route and tried to find things I already had that reminded me of Spring and flowers.<br />

Here is the shelf as a whole. If you have seen my other months, the bird and rabbit are March recycles, and the vase is a February recycle. This was a bit of a harder month for me, since I was really trying not to spend money on anything new.<br />

The last little fun flower I added was this chipboard album I made a couple years ago. Since it is sturdy and on a ring, it stands up like an easel all on it's own. This is one of my favorite pictures of her - we are at the World's Largest Gift Shop in Las Vegas and the giant hat is made of foam, the poker chips are pillows. We were there waiting on family to gift shop, so we decided to get silly with some of the SWAG.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-48188581831470162872014-04-25T18:14:00.000-07:002014-04-25T18:14:38.695-07:004 in 14 April - ProjectBack around Christmas time I saw this fun idea on Pinterest to leave little gifts on your neighbors doors. For some reason I decided it would be fun to do it again for Easter. I thought it would be fun to leave little egg on the doorsteps for our neighbors with treats inside.<br />

I had trouble just getting in one post. For those close to me, that comes as no surprise. My personal life has been craziness finding out my kiddo isn't well. Our family has undergone a serious life change. That being said, in an effort to regain some sort of normal I am trying to get back on track with my blog.<br />

Another cute little box with the lovely Stitch Fix logo. Again, promised myself I would try on everything. Excuse the slightly fuzzy photos. This time it was the kiddo as photog and she's still learning. I should also mention, I don't look at the price sheet until after I try on, since I don't want cost to be my only deciding factor if I <u><b>really</b></u> love a piece. And I know me......that would sway me.<br />

If you are familiar with Stitch Fix you are probably looking for photo number 5 right now. Scroll on back up to the first three pictures. The jeans were the fifth item. Johnny Skinny Jeans. I love skinny jeans with my boots. They were the right length, SOFT, stretch and comfy, smaller pockets on the bum (which makes a gal's bum look better) and fit like they were custom made for me. It was love. I was sure they were my new favorite jeans.<br />

So, first let me just say that I do not pose for photos well. Don't. Never have, never will. So, no commentary on the weird face I am making in at least several of these pics. Also, it had been a rough day at work hence the rockin' ponytail I am sporting. Don't judge.<br />
<br />
With that.....here we go!!<br />

Sorry the picture is so dark, but this shirt is Navy and it has tiny hidden buttons down the front. The fabric was amazing. So super soft. I did not like that it was sheer and would have required a tank underneath. Also, this shirt hung so loose that I felt like it made my stomach look larger than it is.<br />

Loved that this has the buttons on the sleeve to hold them up short. Loved that it was nice and long. Didn't love that it was so big. #1 fave piece! Love cardigans. It's an obsession. Blue is my favorite color. Machine washable. The sleeves are really long so I can pull them down over my hands - I really like that in a sweater. So, overall I was a little sad that I kept only one piece.....but on the other hand my wallet was happy I only kept one piece. :)<br />
And I am loving the piece I got. Too bad it was 85 degrees today and I wore a dress. :(<br />
From the overall experience the best part was just the idea of having to step out of my comfort zone - the idea that I WILL try on everything no matter what it is was a little exciting to me. It felt like my own little version of Stacey & Clinton shopping with me.<br />
<br />
I can't wait until my next fix gets here at the end of March. Stay tuned!!<br />

There were lots and lots of ideas. Obviously we could only pick one. Bummer! We were armed with a couple different ideas when we went to the store.<br />
Lil' Miss was super pleased to discover this little gem of information - Kool-Aid doesn't have sodium.<br />

<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-68311658507542776152014-02-18T16:58:00.000-08:002014-02-18T16:58:45.521-08:004 in 14 February - RecipeMy daughter has been asking, and asking, and asking for Shepard's Pie. Now, I will say that I myself find Shepard's Pie to be delicious. In order to keep it from getting dry, I start with a base of cream corn. Or at least I used to. Did you know there is 400mg of sodium in 1/2 cup?!?!? What!!<br />
<br />
The other issue is the cheese. Did you know there is 170mg in just one ounce (Approx 1 slice) of cheddar? For someone who loves to pile on the cheese, this was a problem for sure. So, I did measure out one ounce using a food scale. That was not very much cheese at all. So, our Swiss had only 60mg per ounce. Hence the cheese blend was born.<br />
<br />
Current total 240mg<br />
<br />
Meat & Potatoes....good to go here.<br />
<br />
Current total still 240mg<br />
<br />
Now, back to this pesky cream corn.<br />
<br />
Thank you <a href="http://www.google.com/" target="_blank">Google</a> for being helpful and finding me this <a href="http://allrecipes.com/recipe/cream-corn-like-no-other/" target="_blank">cream corn recipe</a>.<br />
<br />
I gathered together the ingredients and did some calculations.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjb3VVqM_GDRdJLkyImNSDJ33Op3qqfk81v3SnWnKmZjJDPtFg6AxEbeliY6mVQslLOr-GOupgIGbHbTeGBxzNj0aru0hs8fGwN9tCKnY5Kh2X3f4vOUP3aMSswtSU68OZaqNWX5CSjQ/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjb3VVqM_GDRdJLkyImNSDJ33Op3qqfk81v3SnWnKmZjJDPtFg6AxEbeliY6mVQslLOr-GOupgIGbHbTeGBxzNj0aru0hs8fGwN9tCKnY5Kh2X3f4vOUP3aMSswtSU68OZaqNWX5CSjQ/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="150" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Measured Out</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now, if you read the recipe you will note that salt is listed. Obviously this is not ok for us. So, I left it out. Also, grated Parmesan has 100mg for just a Tbsp and this recipe calls for 1/4 cup. Nope. Deleted. <div>
The milk cost me 120mg and cream a whole whopping 5mg. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Current total 365mg </div>
<div>

This total made a 9x9 glass pan - which is the normal size I make for my family. </div>

Now, let's do some more math....</div>

365mg for the pan / 6 equal size servings cut = 61mg for dinner. </div>

I am surprised by the lack of seasonal decor in my home. I went to a particular home decor / craft store in my area because it has the greatest square footage and has never let me down before. I thought for sure I would find amazing Valentine's things there to make my pretty shelf the highlight of the living room. What I found was an eight foot run of items that were of the little cute animal trinket variety. Not my style. So, I got a couple of items that I liked and ran with it. It is skimpy and not to my expectations, but here it is.<br />

I know this is a little late for my final 4 in 14 January post.....but sometimes life is hard and things have to wait. This post is especially close to my heart, more so than when we started this project, because it has to do with food. Food in our house has suddenly become the focus of almost every moment of every day. We have recently learned our little girl has a very serious disease that requires a very restrictive diet. She is doing well for now, but we are still adjusting.<br />
Last year we got the idea that having our own garden would be fun. This stems mostly from the fact that our daughter visits my mom back east every summer and she has an extensive garden. The little one helps. So for our own little green-thumb adventure we started by clearing a space on the side of the house with excellent morning sun.<br />

My husband was super helpful and built us a beautiful garden box that is nice and deep so that we have room for a good solid root bed. He used the big empty space on the pool deck to lay it out - so don't mind the strange water shots. We didn't have a flood. </div>

As I said, this project is now much more dear to me heart. I am excited, scared, anxious, and overwhelmed at the idea of growing my own food. I guess everyone did it once upon a time. And we do already trade citrus with all the neighbors, as it grows in abundance here in Arizona. Hopefully my thumb is green enough. </div>

If you know me at all you would be aware that having a room one solid color is simply unacceptable. There are at least 5 colors in the living room alone. As you can imagine, this leads to a lot of paint cans in the garage. Because I use different shades on opposite walls, it can sometimes be confusing to keep track.<br />
On a separate note, I was cleaning out my craft area and found chipboard books that I picked up at Michael's on clearance.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEvLczo2J0w6lfvJ-G7jyIE4r2LYmQpmBWDn4r8kFdSnn3Vav04SyxyI5lNMgmX5yRXoXUZnbA-2yOZNGa7-n3ttfC6M60UXVKy_m5QiMFJ1hLgR542CApwOo6J9gsdaWwK69MMtRNeQ4/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEvLczo2J0w6lfvJ-G7jyIE4r2LYmQpmBWDn4r8kFdSnn3Vav04SyxyI5lNMgmX5yRXoXUZnbA-2yOZNGa7-n3ttfC6M60UXVKy_m5QiMFJ1hLgR542CApwOo6J9gsdaWwK69MMtRNeQ4/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="200" width="150" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Twenty Five Cents</td></tr>

That gave me the idea to make a portable little sample book. I kept it pretty basic. On each page of the little flip book I put the sample from the paint store. <div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEv0LKHHbZ5WsjNONPzCXBOTesxYbCZ7vclXpv4N8yH8g8kb7f2tvSG3vscMOlZYdAfN02EcUutaWQ79N4Uob4GPr4IE_xV5UvpIRqz4bO85bLoYEDD91rvX4OD1Z_cERbBvhDCRDYuaw/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEv0LKHHbZ5WsjNONPzCXBOTesxYbCZ7vclXpv4N8yH8g8kb7f2tvSG3vscMOlZYdAfN02EcUutaWQ79N4Uob4GPr4IE_xV5UvpIRqz4bO85bLoYEDD91rvX4OD1Z_cERbBvhDCRDYuaw/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="200" width="150" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wrote the location in the house where each paint was used. I like that this can easily fit in my purse to go to any home decor store I might be visiting and want to coordinate things with. Just to be sure I have the correct matching colors I added the paint labels to the back of each page. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When buying paint, simply ask the employee to print you an extra sticker. This is especially helpful if you are having them make you a paint that is a custom color match to an item you brought in. </div>

I scored two bags of tomatoes at the local grocery store for $0.98 each. They were a little soft, so they had to be used right away. After chopping them, I boiled them in to a great sauce. I put two carrots through the food processor to use as the sweetener instead of sugar. Sadly, I did not keep track of the spices I threw in. I know there was some onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano and black pepper. I ended up with 8 jars of sauce in my pantry, plus one smaller jar of spicy sauce - made special for the hubby - that also has some cayenne and hot pepper in it.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-19731077455131159622014-01-08T15:47:00.000-08:002014-01-08T15:47:59.342-08:004 in 14 January So I had this great idea to set goals for myself. I was going to call it "4 in 14" as in, 4 planned activities every month in 2014. So far I am off to a less than stellar start. Weekend one of each month is supposed to be seasonal decor for my home. Now, since I am new to this I was trying to start small so as not to get overwhelmed and give up. I have seen so many neat ideas on Pinterest I decided to dedicate one shelf in my living room built-in to be my makeshift "mantle" and I refer to it as my "pretty shelf".<br />
Sadly, this past weekend I was not able to update the pretty shelf. I was hoping to have it done this week, but that doesn't look like reality either. You see, I decided it would be fun to repaint the living room, which has involved removing our outdated popcorn ceiling.<br />
We have made great progress but this project has taken significantly longer than expected. So, today the pretty shelf looks like this:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiksi-be9MiVxKlqj6nIie5wCiZHrej_J0vj57tPrX4So8ePNnYb2xzXyxToXDAVSQNu-StI3_J5WJwnanzRlSargpbr5uiPlb8BZa2ZH7JWpw0EHKxyHG0qXLpCq1tG7QaqIzCYM9p4o/s1600/Empty+Sheelf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiksi-be9MiVxKlqj6nIie5wCiZHrej_J0vj57tPrX4So8ePNnYb2xzXyxToXDAVSQNu-StI3_J5WJwnanzRlSargpbr5uiPlb8BZa2ZH7JWpw0EHKxyHG0qXLpCq1tG7QaqIzCYM9p4o/s1600/Empty+Sheelf.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">New Grey Paint</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Just so that I am not at a total loss, I should point out that I gave the pretty shelf an update for Christmas so before the paint mess it looked like this:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwUJGDJT18zNrjRDvb1bQUfVpulAWfft2bdbBFa4m0P5yMCy-1gBmPq6tkM3aK4B0rPt1p4wZowjM7PVpL66IBt1Jz-ht_hZqyvL6euc4Hh5NVWCRnzS-Fcyys3ue-3VdMm2edblWfc8Q/s1600/PrettyShelf.Dec13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwUJGDJT18zNrjRDvb1bQUfVpulAWfft2bdbBFa4m0P5yMCy-1gBmPq6tkM3aK4B0rPt1p4wZowjM7PVpL66IBt1Jz-ht_hZqyvL6euc4Hh5NVWCRnzS-Fcyys3ue-3VdMm2edblWfc8Q/s1600/PrettyShelf.Dec13.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dec 13 Pretty Shelf</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I wish I could tell you I know where I got each of these items, but that would not be true. But since this year the Christmas tree was family themed, we busted out the "whimsy" decor. Christmas 2014 will be "Department Store". Stay tuned!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15921487719428598904noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-186859713079912714.post-9678980508803620782013-12-27T07:00:00.000-08:002014-01-08T15:33:03.324-08:00Wreath gone wrongI wanted to make my own wreath using ribbon I found. It was a nice wide wire rim ribbon. I see tons of them on Pinterest. I never actually read the directions.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5FTuva5LSORX1RXTzKoRlgysG1B5MQfPQXp6R6s4dttA9uLm_oFeKG-brDW9BLuFI7New5IWrJe_uT4tBQzXEEJTnY4DAAAsv1xWRd5WuxOY3zg9MAInlUhMKRAEYMj611Wf3dlfWYvc/s1600/photo+(7).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5FTuva5LSORX1RXTzKoRlgysG1B5MQfPQXp6R6s4dttA9uLm_oFeKG-brDW9BLuFI7New5IWrJe_uT4tBQzXEEJTnY4DAAAsv1xWRd5WuxOY3zg9MAInlUhMKRAEYMj611Wf3dlfWYvc/s200/photo+(7).jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Folding</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I started by folding the ribbon back and forth in equal lengths. Then I decided I wanted a less uniform look so I started over making the lengths a little uneven. I then took floral wire and wove it through the sections.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUMMYVvfxm64bGqAYt1mzt4LMStKm0itPc9o12B4kNseIY13pwKTFyDOKEM0xc8Hw7uoyZT4NI-Mh4Vw7JOLVHJj3S8xI6RyfKWD5rDcRsrYAdLdRIoXlBrIqxd-RJsbnNsjoTqE3jTkI/s1600/weaving.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUMMYVvfxm64bGqAYt1mzt4LMStKm0itPc9o12B4kNseIY13pwKTFyDOKEM0xc8Hw7uoyZT4NI-Mh4Vw7JOLVHJj3S8xI6RyfKWD5rDcRsrYAdLdRIoXlBrIqxd-RJsbnNsjoTqE3jTkI/s200/weaving.jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">wiring </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Since I wanted good support, I actually ran two pieces of wire through. In this photo you can see the bottom wire already woven as I am running the top wire through. My theory was that at the end I would form the two wires in to loop that met each other, thus making the wreath shape.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXm1MqhjmF6E5N3iD4U0Pfj2ZJIGTStOJecDTZZQsiRvf8ZSsv5aPk6IyyE_8HPP9KuDXMb97MFk7hfFvODFPNYco5bOPQivIu3MJxl5ze2wEx1tFzM4fo0JvULjKdwcPYssr7TE_8QXI/s1600/photo+(10).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXm1MqhjmF6E5N3iD4U0Pfj2ZJIGTStOJecDTZZQsiRvf8ZSsv5aPk6IyyE_8HPP9KuDXMb97MFk7hfFvODFPNYco5bOPQivIu3MJxl5ze2wEx1tFzM4fo0JvULjKdwcPYssr7TE_8QXI/s200/photo+(10).jpg" height="200" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Flat</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
After I wove all the ribbon and pulled the wire tight, I realized I had grossly underestimated how much ribbon this project would take. I ended up with a flat wreath that looked nothing like a wreath at all. At this point I decided I needed a plan "B".<br />

<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizHs7dsyUSnmYYcR25BkDFBXrElu6kH5hVd_H4VCWPzb7wcrRBQQBQZAm0AG4p9vAszq8XfPGIgWKUH7K5Bq3RGxB17VN7QZeB82sM8m4zMflWSGvoGbz1BOYp7yGEvbskN9CUhyE1uXg/s1600/photo+(9).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizHs7dsyUSnmYYcR25BkDFBXrElu6kH5hVd_H4VCWPzb7wcrRBQQBQZAm0AG4p9vAszq8XfPGIgWKUH7K5Bq3RGxB17VN7QZeB82sM8m4zMflWSGvoGbz1BOYp7yGEvbskN9CUhyE1uXg/s200/photo+(9).jpg" height="200" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hanging Loop</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I decided to fluff up all the loops I had made and see what happened. I kept fluffing and reworking, again and again until I was reasonably happy with the result.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj54slVSREozDYQP6N98bfN5t1x9wDY_88YX1kUQgQ-lyl7Xef_rV-_QxFAFSu4vSoMwMty6BmNFHOnZ14LVBDoBf5BCT91Vgib-_EMIBdmX1JHf9ofeuxaEe2Ex4dG2M-6svDTyQ8Msis/s1600/IMG_9153.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj54slVSREozDYQP6N98bfN5t1x9wDY_88YX1kUQgQ-lyl7Xef_rV-_QxFAFSu4vSoMwMty6BmNFHOnZ14LVBDoBf5BCT91Vgib-_EMIBdmX1JHf9ofeuxaEe2Ex4dG2M-6svDTyQ8Msis/s320/IMG_9153.jpeg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"wreath" bow</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
In the end I had made what my supportive family referred to as the "world's prettiest bow". I am not convinced. And I still don't have my wreath. On the bright side, I didn't use my favorite of the ribbons I bought. And I did go back and read the directions on Pinterest, so perhaps this next time I will get it right. Stay tuned.<br />
